iSport: What are your thoughts on your performance in the Sri Lanka test series that went by?
Viru:
It was one of my best performances in the series and I hope to keep up the good work.

iSport: What is your normal training regime?
Viru:
I work out for 2hrs everyday. If I am with the team then usually the training sessions happen at the nets itself.

iSport: Some time back you were dropped from the team and since your comeback you have been in a tremendous form. Do you think this helped you grow as a player?
Viru:
Yes definitely. Those times have taught me a lot. I was always positive even in the lean phase of my life. The beliefs within me made it happen.

iSport: What do you think about the current FTP schedule where India are not scheduled to play many tests in the coming months and hence will lose the No 1 ranking without even losing any test matches?
Viru:
I think It’s ok until we are not loosing. We would all love to play more Test cricket. Playing only four in a year isn’t enough. There should be at least 8 to 10 in a year

iSport: We do not see too many Indian batsmen using the sweep shot against the spinners. What in your opinion is the reason for it?
Viru:
It totally depends on the pitch, how it behaves etc and the batsman accordingly adjusts the shot. Another reason could be the approach towards the spinner that has changed due to new formats introduced.

iSport: Considering you are a player who insists that one should hit even bad balls, what is your opinion of players like Rahul Dravid who like to grind the opposition?
Viru:
One needs a player like Dravid who can actually build in the innings for the team.

iSport: We noticed you were a little tensed during a few of the Delhi Daredevils matches. What are your thoughts on captaincy?
Viru:
Youngsters should get the chance for Captaincy. That’s why I supported Gautam.
Delhi Daredevils were rated the strongest team in 1st as well as the 2nd season of IPL, but you haven't been able to qualify at least for the finals.

iSport: What do you think your team lacks in?
Viru:
In my opinion the team is perfectly balanced. All we need is to click at the right time and that too with consistency.

iSport: Who was the most difficult bowler you have faced so far?
Viru:
Glenn Mcgrath was a difficult bowler to face.

iSport: Who was/is the best Indian bowler you have played with/against.
Viru:
Anil Kumble

iSport: If you have to pick a player who plays like you in World cricket now, who would it be?
Viru:
I would say, Gautam Gambhir

iSport: You're message to iSport.in readers and Cricket fans
Viru:
Keep up the good work and keep watching cricket.
