Cricket Update from the iSport Cricket Pavillion: iSporter Vipul Deshpande debuts on iSport. He tells us how the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup will have a charged up Indian Cricket Team.

With less than couple of weeks left for the World Cup to be flagged off, the excitement all over the country is at its peak. Twenty eight years is a long time. Especially for an impatient and passionate nation like that of India. Ever since Kapil Dev and his brave hearts lifted the cup for the first time in 1983, the Indian team is expected to encore their feat and invariably the nation has been let down.

This time around the expectations are million folds more from Dhoni's men as it would be the Little Master's last World cup and could well be his last appearance in the one day format. Sachin has expressed his desire of winning the Cup time and again. It is a final frontier for him. The country loves him so much that everyone wants India to win the Cup not for the team, not for the country's sake but only for Sachin! All his team mates have also spoken about dedicating this Cup (only if they manage to win it, i.e.) to Sachin. The Little Master himself would definitely be more than excited about his final assent on the ultimate peak of achievement. World Cup also seems to be tailor made for him. It is being played in his den, he is four centuries short of his 50 Hundreds in ODIs and most importantly the final is at Wankhede Stadium, his home ground! So is he destined to score his 50th century in the World Cup final in front of his home crowd? If this indeed happens, it would undoubtedly be the best possible end to any cricketer in history of the game.  Sachin himself obviously would want that grand style of exit.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that there are going to be other ten players with him on the field as well, who would be sharing the very dream that of Sachin and would be striving hard to deliver their best as well. This edition of World Cup means a lot to many players. This edition could well be the last one for Zaheer Khan, considering the fact that he is 31 now and pace bowlers, especially from the sub continent usually retire in early or mid 30s, one cannot be sure whether he will be there next time around. Fortunately, he has been at his very best for some time now and will go hard at oppositions.

This will be Dhoni's first World Cup as captain in 50 over format. He has been under critics' scanner lately, both for his batting as well as for captaincy. He had a poor series with bat in South Africa, to say the least.  Even wisdom of his tactics on field have been questioned. So he too has plenty of work to do ahead.

On the other hand, the likes of Raina, Pathan, Virt Kohli, Piyush Chawla , who would be making their first World Cup appearances, would be all geared up to prove  their mettle on a big platform as this. They would be looking to grab every opportunity with both hands.

So, it's now or never for everyone in the team, including the coach himself as he has decided to bid adieu to Team India after this tournament. And who doesn't like to end on high? So be rest assured that that the team will be out there to give their best.
