From the iSport Cricket Pavilion: This edition of World Cup was one of the best editions experienced with great stories, facts and figures. Finally the best team won and to be on the lighter side of the things there were many causes and effects which made the tournament a rollercoaster ride! iSporter Jigar Mehta with a humorous touch looks at the different causes and effects of the World Cup 2011.

funny-world-cup-2011-final

1) Effect: Pakistan thanks the ICC after the England-Ireland match.

Cause: For not including Ireland in their group this time around! Lucky you!

2) Effect: Ponting breaks the LCD Television set after the Zimbabwe game.

Cause:  He believed that the only ones who have the right to run him out were the substitutes! (Aah! now we understand the importance of substitutes!)

3) Effect: Bangladesh team partying after their horrible nine wicket loss to West Indies.

Cause: The Bangladeshi fans had by-mistake stoned the West Indies team bus! Well that's what you call happy-go-lucky!

4) Effect: Bangladesh beaten by 206 runs at the hands of South Africa and kicked out of the World Cup.

Cause: Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan had watched a Hindi movie a day before! Well no prizes for guessing, the movie was Tees Maar Khan!

5) Cause: Kevin O'Brien hits the fastest century of the World Cup chasing down 327 against England

Effect: Eoin Morgan will get the company of another Irish along with other unlimited Africans in the team! Well now they can change their name from English to Afro-Irish.

6) Cause: Umpire Asoka de Silva dropped from officiating in crucial matches

Effect: Umpire Asoka de Silva gives an all together different dimension to the UDRS system, yes his new definition for UDRS- Umpires deserve respect surely!

Sorry to interrupt here guys, but this section is dedicated to the one and only...............

7) Effect: Ponting refused to walk after being clearly caught behind.

Cause: The keeper was Kamran Akmal! (Well the disbelief was justifiable for the unluckiest person on the earth)

8) Effect: Ross Taylor had the most memorable Birthday of his life!

Cause: Kamran Akmal!  Now behind every successful batsman as well as birthday there is Kamran Akmal isn't it?

9) Effect: Shoaib Akhtar retires from International cricket

Cause:  Kamran Akmal! Poor fellow, the only time he didn't commit a single mistake, he had to retire!

10) Cause: Kamran Akmal drops xyz number of catches

Effect: Younger brother Umar Akmal sustains multiple injuries! well definitely "khoon khoon ka rishta (blood relation)" one gets the beating and the other is injured!

11) Effect: Kamran Akmal still stuck at the Mohali Airport

Cause: He still hasn't managed to "catch" a flight!

12) Effect: No Pakistan cricketer caught Tendulkar off the bowling of Shahid Afridi! (Three dropped catches until finally he himself caught the Master!)

Cause: Why would they? When all the motivation goes to Shahid Afridi even if the bowler is not Shahid Afridi! Even you must have heard this: "Shabash Shabash Shahid Bhai!" Yes a 100,000 times.

13) Effect: Kamran Akmal should be named the "Man of the Tournament"

Cause: Why not, he has the record for most runs!

Well don't be surprised it's definitely conceded.  (Well he costs more to the team than he scores!)

14) Effect: Pakistan fell short by 29 runs in the Semi-finals against India

Cause: 1.21 billion Indian people know the cause: Misbah-ul-Haq at the Crease! ( Aandar ki baat hai Misbah aapne saath hai!) (Means: Every time Misbah wins it for India)

15) Finally

Effect: Yuvraj Singh became the man of the Tournament!

Cause: Poonam Pandey (Well need I say anything more!)

Note: All the points mentioned in the article are not facts and are made up from a humorous point of view with due respect to each and every person and team mentioned in the Article. Please do take it with a pinch of salt and in the spirit of humour.
