10 Reasons Why I Started Hating Chelsea

A club which came into prominence a few years back, Chelsea FC is today considered one of the top European threats in club football. iSporter Pulasta Dhar is shocked at what money-mining owners can do in football and lists down 10 reasons why he ‘started’ hating Chelsea…

chelsea_old_new_logo

Chelsea were a team who were let us say ‘Tottenhammish’ or ‘Evertonnish’. What I mean to say is that it was a club which people felt should do well with the quality players they had. It used to be a pleasure if Chelsea made the top four and in the Champions League because the players they had were not playing for money but for the glory and love of the club. I ironically will say that I was one of their admirers until Abramovich came in.

The likes of Gianfranco Zola, Emmanuel Petit, Graeme Le Saux and Marcel Desailly made their football nice and solid to watch. Even if they did not win anything significant, a Man Utd or Liverpool fan always listed them as their favourite rivals. In fact, they were not very fiery rivals at all.

Their significant history does not go so far into the 70s or 80s like other clubs in the Premier League. In fact, the club rose to good competitor status after the mid 90s, which saw the emergence of the legendary Zola, along with others which consisted of Roberto Di Matteo, Frank Laboeuf, Gustavo Poyet, Andre Flo and of course the irreplaceable Gianluca Vialli. The manager was also one of the greats (even though he won nothing significant) in Ruud Gullit.

As I reminisce how they went from a club which was exciting to watch to one which has become increasingly desperate for success, I try and list down 10 reasons why admiration changed to a loathing for the blues:

1) The owner confuses himself with the manager. Also, his way of working is like a dictator.

2) The sudden buying spree they started on and in the process sacked numerous people who were attached with the club since a long time. In a sudden overturning effect, Ranieri, Zola and the whole defense line apart from Terry went home. A drastic step resulted in worldwide loss of goodwill.

3) When they won the title, it was almost bought with transfers. In the wake of it, how many players were bought and sold haphazardly? Hernan Crespo, Adrian Mutu, Veron, Makalele, Glen Johnson, Steve Sidwell, Damien Duff, Scott Parker and Robben were all part of Chelsea history for a mere 2 years or so. Where is player retention? All these names above are top players who are not even remembered at Stamford Bridge.

4) Ruining Andriy Shevchenko in a disrespectful manner was exemplary of what Abra really cared for. He brought in a player worth 30 million Pounds only to let him rot on the sidelines. Considered to be the best striker in Europe then, Sheva never made a mark in the Premier League and fizzled out into oblivion, never to return….

5) The sacking to Jose Mourinho for no reason at all. Can’t a club draw and lose a few games in succession? He was the man to make them a force to be reckoned with across Europe and he parted ways without an explanation.

6) Avram Grant need never have left. He took over from Jose Mourinho and he was a completely different personality. To handle the expectancy with a close run-in to the title and a final in the Champions League only lost on penalties, the man reacted in top class fashion. There was no concrete reason for him leaving.

7) Hiddink and Scolari were the next heads in the Chelsea fired squad. While Hiddink was temporary the question to be asked is why was he temporary? With the trinkets of money he has, Abra could have made him stay. He delivered a trophy within months of taking charge. Scolari was not given time at all. His results were extremely good. What did Abra want….a World Cup winning team? He must be crazy. I fear for Ancelotti.

8) Didier Drogba is a fool. He could have been the best footballer in the world, but for his antics. He is a raging bull running through defenders when he has a ball to control, but if you merely poke him on his rump, he will make it look as if he has been shot at!! The jealous one may argue that Ronaldo dives too (because that is the first though that would naturally come to a Chelsea fan), but Ron is 3 times faster than Drog, was targeted in the Premiership and still has tons and tons of goals to show for!!

9) The players play for money!! They fight amongst themselves so that they get paid as much as a Terry or a Lampard. It is unimaginable. It reflects the character of a group of players which compare themselves within the team to be on a similar pay scale! Let us not forget the shameless girlfriend sharing.

10) With Roman came a whole bandwagon of crazy fans who jumped on for glory. A whole breed of new football fans joined the ‘True Blue’ brigade because they thought, “Oh hell! What a team!! So much money!! Two titles in two years plus a manager who looks like George Clooney!! Let us become Chelsea fans.” In a poll conducted by Deloitte, Chelsea’s supporters tripled after their second title under Mourinho. On the other hand, those who think United and Arsenal also made as many fans are wrong. The fans have been retained since the last 7-10 years. And worst of all, they behave as if they’ve been winning things since a century.

roman_abramovich

The thing is that Chelsea want to write history and will do anything for it. After all, football is for history!! For many who think United, Arsenal and Villa fans are braggers, they bloody well deserve it!! A club is remembered for its achievements, so let us not get into that argument of, “Please don’t remind me of the past.” Because to remind one of the past is the only way to prove glory. Nobody remembers finalists, they remember the winners.

I do not mean to offend one or kill one’s feelings for the club, but they have simply ruined the meaning of developing a club with proper nourishment and care. Kids can’t be born as 18 year olds. Give time, give consideration and don’t rush it. Well, at least don’t change the logo!!! They have not left anything from the past to remember Chelsea as it was….

I will continue to write articles which echo my opinions. And how can you call it worthless....since you yourself have brought and given so much attention to it. Theory of negativity my friend.....if you can understand what I am telling you.
These outbursts from you....that's what keeps me going....gimme more baby!!

You are one big twat.

Avram Grant got the results ? The limited success CFC had in his tenure was due to Steve Clarke. Oh Im not sure if you know him.

Scolari got extremely good results ?!! That sums up your knowledge of the club.

ManUfans have retained since the last 7-10 years ? Double standard moron, there was an exponential increase in gloryhunters.

Just don't go on a hating spree just bcoz you don't like the club. You are parading your stupidity.

Oh yea you were part of the Chelsea set-up right, knowing that Steve Clarke was the man behind the results? You've just made a fool of yourself by saying that, because your rich club couldn't even retain an assistant manager in the form of Clarke?
Hah! What a foolish club...a club like West Ham could take him in the same position under Zola....Oh Im not sure you know him....probably wetting your diapers while he was banging them goals in the back o the net!!
And forgot to tell you, are you still in the Champions League? And yeah, that was a great show against Blackburn!!
Well done!! and carry on!

Hey Pulasta Dhar or what ever your name is, can you tell me one thing? How old are you? Are you from around Manchester United or in this case, Chelsea? Have you ever played any competitive football in your life. Have you played a game where you could have made an Impact?

I read this post, and I must say you have great skills to sit on wikepeida or wherever it is from you get your info, and making up and article like this. From this article all i can see a naive, little college kid, talking rubbish about a very profound football club. You tlak about history and blah blah, have seen any games from when zola, Le Saux, Di Matteo used to play. I guess not. And seriously, you say that you are giving your point of view, then why can you cheer your own team, rather saying blah about other clubs.

Chelsea has more fans love the game, and follow their team and players with respect and they have a great passion for the team even if its just been since the start of the two years of dominance.
But look at you, at one point you say you are just giving your views and that just starts into this hatred, which has nothing to do with football.
Son, you seriously need to grow up and talk football and not personal lives of players, we can see that on omg.com.

Google me and you will find out more. (Not only the isport part...there's a lot more that shows I am as good a talker too and that what I have managed in 20 odd yrs while all you could do was think about the next comment you'll post here)

I may be a college kid but I've watched more football than you. And even if I'v not, I have the guts to come out with a few reasons on why i started hating a team which I liked watchin play.

And if you have doubts over my passion for my team, here's a little something:

http://extrememanufan.nikefootball.in/20_winners.html

I should not flaunt this around but u'v forced me too. Do you hv anything like this to show? then please post the link, i'll be glad we have enough genuine rivals who might be able to spell Zola's first name!! smilies/wink.gif

Haha, you won a contest, wow. That gives you all the rights to talk sh** about any club. you little dimwit, you have no experience of football what so ever, but I'm just wondering how much could a contest influence a person. All I've got to say to you is that this article is nothing about football. Its all about hatred. And For a person who reads and APPROVES stuff like this all day long. I dont need to tell you anything about me, because you are not worthy of it.
Well, as for you being some kind of a columnist on this website, try putting on some good reports rather than prtraying your inner hatred. use this website's medium for a good report and not crap like this!

Don't read it if its crap. You are such a contradiction yourself(which re-iterates my belief of you needing psychological help). What sort of person reads articles which he calls crap himself? My diagnosis will be split personality. Go get help and start saving for it, cause Roman's not going to pay for it is he?

You don't need to tell me who you are, cause I have seen a lot of COWARDS like you. Hiding behind flags which scream 'Team Terry', but can't come out on a forum with their names. Right, 'Mr.Guest'? At least you know who I am and that makes me more credible than your anonymous comments.

At least I have the guts to come out in the open with whatever I write. I have played more football than you have watched while sitting on your couch, which also makes me think you are one of those oversized fatbrains that joined the Chelsea bandwagon while surfing channels (see point no. 10), because from the looks of it, thats all you can do!

At least I won a contest which makes me proud....what about you?You probably have a fake Chelsea tshirt on you right now, hoping for an autograph on it one day.

And how I love winding you up....cause I know you'll come back with another retort shortly.....its become a nice timepass for me!!

Wake up boy, Its not you little world. come out of it. LOL at cowards, what do you think does this article glorify you, by writing hates towards other clubs. I m from Luton, and mate, fyi i have played football for my youth club. But you wont understand it. A friend who was reffering to you was exactly right about you.
Well, I am a Manchester United Fan. And when I see some dumbf***s like you going around talking shit about our players, just feel kinda sad, that a person who doesn't even know about football in our country brags so much about Terry's character.
Well I just wanted to know where your from, and I just checked the link again. You come form a land where there is no football! So shut your Pieh***!!

Ya there is no football in our country, but we supply most of the viewers in the television rights so that your league can run. Anyway, you need not worry since I am moving to your country this year and we might meet somewhere. I'll know how to recognize you- look for a Man Utd fan who has apparently fallen in love with Chelsea.

And for the record, I'll be cheering for England this WC (just like the ones I've seen before also), so I was in as much shock at Terry's actions as ppl in England were.

If I make it where I want to, I'm sure you'll know.

Thats it from me....you can keep talking. And if you can, lets not take jibes at each other's country...as it is, we have a lot of history....

Alright kid, you are just full of yourself. Just do yourself some good by not talking a lot when you come here. You will not like consequences if you act like MR ALL STAR Manchester UTD fan. I am one too. But stop being so cocky. As a friendly advice, dont talk out against any of the people here.
And I was not taking any jabs, at the country. ( you are so immature to understand what I was saying when I said there is no football in your country.) But its not your fault, you are just full of it and you will probably know it when you come or meet someone who will knock some sense in you. And yes, I am a Manchester United and england fan. And we dont like dimwits like you who dont know what it is to be a proffessional here, go on saying stuff.
Well I just wish you make it whereever want to. Good luck.
