Hull City stunned Manchester City with a stupendous performance that puts them out of the relegation zone and sends a message to their rivals in the struggle for premiership survival. iSporter Chirag Mansukhani brings the action.

Hull City winless in 10 games delivered a shock defeat to Mancini’s City who have been in fine form of late. Hull coming off a well played out draw against Chelsea during the week started the game strongly as they took the game to Manchester City. It was clear from the very beginning that they were not going to take the game lying down and displayed some of the form they had during the first half of last season.
The Tigers would roar and how; with Jozy Altidore playing simply out of his socks as he had an amazing game going in and out of the City defense with ease leaving them absolutely clueless. Altidore and Hull finally broke down the City defense when a ball from Boateng found the boot of Altidore leaving Shay Given mystified.
Hull made a strong statement and continued with the same intent through out the first half. Into the second half and it was Hull again who made the first move with Boateng’s shot this time flying past the helpless Given who could only watch in amazement as his side were being outplayed by lowly Hull.
However, City managed to pull one back. Adebayor managed to score off a corner from debutant Adam Johnson and City saw the chance to salvage the situation. It was not to be, as Hull held firm and defended with all their might. Patrick Vieira also came on for City and managed to find his place in the referees’ book while Wayne Bridge made little impact on his match publicized return to the team.
The win for Hull puts them out of the drop zone and means that City lost some valuable points in the battle for that coveted fourth spot and Champions league place. For now though it seems like Phil Brown can have a breather; after all his side has pulled out two majestic performances against Chelsea and Manchester City. The relegation battle is certainly heating up and it remains to be seen which manager will be the first to succumb under pressure.
