iSport F1 Pitstop: Ferrari writer, iSporter Maharshi Vaishnav is worried about Ferrari’s team spirit after their no. 1 driver Fernando Alonso made a few controversial statements running up to the Spanish Grand Prix.

I have always felt and have reiterated on this forum time & again that Fernando Alonso is not a typical Ferrari driver. His tirades this week have once again strengthened my belief.
Instance 1: Alonso became the first driver to break the cycle of downplaying his team's chances in 2010. He openly claimed that Ferrari is a favorite for 2010 Championships.
Instance 2: Alonso defiantly insisted that he wouldn't hesitate to repeat his highly controversial and criticized overtaking move he made on his team-mate in China, should the circumstances compel.
When Massa has been focusing on and lauding the F1's return to Europe and the massive strides made by Ferrari after China, Alonso's tangential speak worries me a bit.
Even the legendary Michael Schumacher during his imperious years at Ferrari never made such tall claims thereby underestimating their rivals. And most importantly, whether it was Eddie Irvine or Rubens Barrichello, Schumi made sure that there was this sense of inclusive growth as a team. Alonso doesn't convey any of these.
Barcelona is a difficult circuit with very few overtaking opportunities plus it is expected to be a wet race once again. Amidst all of this, Ferrari would want their drivers to not just give their best without any distractions but also display some much needed team spirit.
The mirror adjustments & the new rear wing also called the 'blown wing' is expected to provide an impetus to Ferrari's chafes this weekend. I personally wish for a Ferrari 1-2. Hope we have an exciting race atleast...
