iSport F1 Pitstop: Virgin Racing had a disastrous debut at the Bahrain GP. iSporter Chirag Mansukhani is however hopeful of better performances in the coming races. Will they?

Things could not have possibly gone worse for Richard Branson’s Virgin Racing in their debut race in Bahrain. None of the drivers even came close to finishing the race. In fact, both their drivers were back in the pits watching the action from a safe distance within the first 20 laps of the race. One can see that Virgin certainly have their share of problems.
Even during qualifying the two young Virgin drivers failed to make much of an impact and they were quickly put to rest at the start of the race leaving them to ponder about the problems the team will have to fix before they head down to Australia.
In my pre-GP article I had mentioned that for Virgin scoring even one point would be a good result. On hindsight though, one has to realize that being F1 debutants is not easy and I am sure they will slowly but surely settle in.
All in all it really was a disappointing weekend for the Virgin team. They showed a lot of promise and we were all eager to see how they performed especially with their all-CFD design. But the team certainly failed to impress with their lack of on-track performance.
One may choose to not be too hard on the team and not judge them just yet as the season is only just getting started and things can still pick up. I am sure that they will learn from the mistakes and be eager to set the record straight in the GPs to come. Virgin Racing’s target should be to be end the season as the best newcomer. All one can do is wait and watch for some signs of hope and improvement Down Under.
