F1 Update from the iSport F1 Pitstop: Mclaren could’ve easily scored a perfect 1-2 in the Belgian Grand Prix writes iSporter Gautam TP.

When Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button collided in last year's Belgium Grand Prix, they would have never thought that they would be racing as team mates this year. What proved to be a good summer break from the previous race, Mclaren was back on their best. The car was quick throughout the practice and qualifying sessions. Once again, the absolutely unpredictable weather of Spa ensured a lottery of a race!
It was a great weekend for Lewis Hamilton. A perfect start meant that he snatched the race lead from Red Bull’s Mark Webber. The perfect start was followed by a near perfect drive in the race, which saw Lewis carefully battle the extreme weather conditions to win and grab the 25 points, which also gave him the lead in the Driver's Championship. However, rains in the closing stages of the race made the end even more exciting. The leaders were caught on racing slicks on a wet track, which is also when Hamilton lost control and miraculously escaped the punishing barriers of SPA.
Jenson Button extracted the maximum from the weather and made it a comfortable 1-2 before his luck ran out when Sebastian Vettel accidentally collided into the reigning world champion. Fernando Alonso, the remaining driver for the Title hunt, also did not score which is a boon for Hamilton and Webber. All five drivers made mistakes during the race, Webber’s being the poor race start! The mistakes from the veteran drivers characterize the tough nature of the circuit and proves why Spa is called labeled as the ‘ultimate’ driver's circuit.
Mclaren was gutted that Vettel’s unwanted incident denied the team a perfect 1-2. However, Mclaren should be confident in Monza and should retain the momentum they gained in the Belgian Grand Prix. Mclaren has always maintained an edge over the competition when it comes to consistent performance in Monza.
What Formula One fans can expect for the remainder of the season will be a classic battle between the top three teams. The laptimes and performance from Redbull, Mclaren and Ferrari showed just how difficult it is to separate the best of three. Though Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber could breathe easy now, the remaining trio of Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso have already warned their rivals against writing them off for the title race!
Team favoritism has already been ruled out in the camps of Mclaren and Redbull for the remainder of the season. It will be an interesting to watchout how the team handles the tension building up slowly between the drivers in their quest for both the Constructor's title and Driver's title.
