iSport F1 Pitstop: Felipe Massa will take to competitive F1 racing after an 8 month hiatus. iSporter Chirag Mansukhani tells us what to expect of him.

Felipe Massa looks all set to make his return to Formula1 this weekend at the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix after the horrendous injury he suffered last year from a suspension spring that popped out off Barrichello's Brawn car.
After a life and career threatening injury, the Bahrain GP will be very critical for Massa. Any indications of his inability to race will be exposed here. However, he’s been on the pace in the pre-season testing and I doubt if the aftereffects of the injury still remain. Since October last year, Felipe has been driving the 2007 Ferrari to get back into shape for this season. He will have a new partner this season in Fernando Alonso. It will be interesting to see whether they will be able to work well as a unit and how intense the competition between both the Ferrari drivers will be.
Although, if I was in their place, I wouldn’t be worrying about my teammate much. In my opinion, this season will be one of the most competitive that Formula One has ever seen. With Jenson Button looking to defend his title, Hamilton looking to get back on track to his winning ways as well as Schumacher making his comeback; Ferrari and Massa certainly have their work cut out if Felipe is to battle for the title.
I do feel for Felipe though. It has to be remembered that he was robbed of the title in 2008 falling short by just one point when Hamilton won the title in sheer drama when he overtook Timo Glock at the last corner of the last lap of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
This season has all the makings of a rib tickling and nail biting affair between a number of teams and drivers. It remains to be seen if this season lives up to its immensely high billing. One certainly hopes it will.
For Felipe’s sake I do hope he makes an amazing return to the tracks with a victory in his first race. Warning to all; despite all that’s going on, my money is on Felipe. Catch him if you can. Here’s wishing Felipe all the luck for the entire season. GO MASSA!!!

... Oh his point is well made in the article. No? He believes that Massa has what it takes, atleast that is what I can make of it. But the author could have probed a little bit further. |
