F1 Update from the iSport F1 Pitstop : iSporter Gunjan Shah is hopeful of an improved performance by Renault at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

This weekend, the Formula One circus moves to the mystical, eastern European city of Budapest. Barely a week after what was a controversial German GP, Red Bull and Ferrari were seen once again fighting for bragging rights. But one another team was quietly working away at those lap times and ended up impressing once again. Indeed, the Renault F1 team, with its drivers in P5 and P7 at the end of the Friday practice sessions, re-inforced that there is more to come from the French Squad.

This time around though, it was young rookie Petrov who outdid the vastly-experienced Kubica. Although it was just Friday practice, I am sure this would have done the young rookie a world of good; especially after reports persist that the Russian, called the "Vyborg Rocket" in his homeland, is under increasing pressure to perform. If indeed, the rumors are true that Renault F1 have managed to interest Master Card to come onboard, and if Kimi Raikonnen does indeed choose to return to F1 with the rejuvenated new Avatar of Renault, then there is probably little that Petrov can do. However, it would be a shame to see him go this way. I am sure given more time, there is a lot more to come from the Russian. As for Kubica, he has been in a class of his own; making little mistake weekend after weekend and adding to his points tally which stands at 89.

The Hungaroring is a track that should suit the R 30. Given the slow and tight nature of the circuit, with lots of slow corners, the driver input makes a whole load of difference to the lap-time that the car achieves. With both Kubica and Petrov looking good yesterday, I am sure Renault will be aiming for another double points finish in the race. We can realistically see one Renault in the top 5 finish. Given past performances, that should be the R 30 of Kubica, but as always anything can happen and we could well see a case of rookie out-racing the master.
