From the iSport IPL Paddock: iSporter Krishnasish Dasgupta is thrilled with the Kolkata Knight Riders Win over the Deccan Chargers! Do you think KKR's winning days are back?

Let us consider Eden Gardens to be the theatrical stage! And all the 'fictional characters' out of Dav Whatmore's book delivered and delivered in right earnest. KKR spanked up an incredible performance against Sangakkara led Deccan Chargers who seemed a less charged yesterday, succumbing eventually at the hands of KKR by 9 runs.
Right from the start KKR were on top of their game - Jacques Kallis's amazing knock, lusty blows by city boy Manoj Tiwary and the skipper- Gauti too putting up a decent show - the team seemed to be on a mission, especially after their poor outing at Chennai on the opening day of this year's IPL. DC front bowlers Ishant Sharma and Dale Steyn didn't get much success as KKR piled up 163/4.
The start had to be crucial for Sanga's team but DC lacked that energy, their body language seemed terrible, while on the flip side it turned out to be the home team's gain. KKR playing their first home match in this season may not have wanted this, the Mecca of Indian cricket- Eden Gardens not even half-filled! Loosing the wicket of Dhawan early in the innings proved fatal for the visiting team, couple of wickets- the chips down - it was over to Kumar Sangakkara to perform the rescuing but his side fumbled in the middle, not putting up enough runs in the first six overs of the power-play and as a result chocked big time - primarily because of their own shortcomings.
With his second consecutive fifty, Kallis now is the highest scorer in the tournament with 107 runs and his orange cap could only attract the Chargers batsmen as they kept on playing the lofted shots and in the process ended up 'offering' the veteran South African all-rounder with four catches. Clearly it turned out to be a great day indeed for Kallis with the bat and also while on the field! Rajat Bhatia having a tremendous Ranji record, someone who always bowls as per his limitations brought an end to Chipli's wonderful knock of 48 as DC drooped to 88 for five after 14 overs.
Aussie lad Daniel Christian's mercurial stellar did give some hope for DC supporters but Abdulla had some other ideas in store, unable to control the lofted shot Christian was soon back to the pavilion, courtesy - blinder of a catch by Ryan Ten Doeschate of Abdulla's slow left arm turner. Unadkat too showed a lot of nerves, as the 19-yr old bowled brilliantly in the dying moments of the game. In the end KKR wrapped up the DC side beating them by 9 runs.
All in all the Calcutta team (Kolkata Knight Riders) are back to winning ways!
