From the iSport IPL Paddock: Pune Warriors India made a dream debut, as they accomplished one of the most convincing wins in the IPL over Kings XI Punjab by 7 wickets at the D.Y Patil Stadium, which is their home ground. iSporter Vipul Deshpande pens his match review.

The hosts' skipper and India's current blue eyed boy, Yuvraj Singh could not have asked a better start from his bowlers as they were on the rampage right from the word go. Adam Gilchrist was picked up in the first over of the match by Thomas for just 1while the other opener, Shaun Marsh was also dismissed for 1 by the young medium pacer Wagh in the second over. This was just the beginning to what proved a nightmare for the Kings as all their batsmen looked clueless or fell prey to bad shot selection and were reduced to 46-6 in the 9th over. It seemed that the hosts would bundle up Kings XI Punjab within a couple of overs, given the rate at which the wickets were falling.
But there was some consolation for the men in red as McLaren batted sensibly and added 35 runs with Piyush Chawla for the 7th wicket. McLaren scored his maiden IPL half century, scoring 51not out off 44 deliveries (6 fours and 1 six).Kings XI Punjab somehow managed to go past the score of 100 and finished with 112-8. Shrikant Wagh was the peak of the bowlers for the Pune Warriors India, who picked up 3-16 on his IPL debut.
The target was never going to be a challenging one, given the strong batting line up of hosts. There was however, some excitement for Gilly and Co. when Graeme Smith was dismissed by Pravin Kumar on the first delivery of the second innings. The joy, was however, short lived as Jesse Ryder and Manhas added 60 in just 7.5 overs, killing all the hopes of the visiting side. Just when it looked that this partnership would sail the team through, two quick wickets fell. Manhas was out for 35, while McLaren was picked up Ryder when the latter was on 31 off just 17 balls (6 fours).
Yuvraj Singh (21 not out) and Robin Uthappa(22 not out) ensured that there were no more hiccups as they added 45 runs unbroken stand for the 4th wicket and guided Pune Warriors India to a comprehensive victory over Kings XI Punjab in the 14th over, the team of which Yuvraj, ironically was the captain of.
Yuvi, who had a poor run of form in the last edition, seems to have point to prove and would work hard to keep the momentum going for rest of the matches. Pune Warriors certainly is the team to watch out for in this edition.
