From the iSport IPL Paddock: Some disciplined bowling by Mumbai's bowlers coupled with brilliant half-centuries from Sachin Tendulkar (55*) and Ambati Rayudu (63*) helped Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
Sachin and Yayudu

Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar won the toss, elected to field and got off to a brilliant start reducing the Royal Challengers to 19 for 2 inside five overs, which included a wicket off the first ball of the innings as Malinga cleaned up opener Mayank Agarwal with a brilliant outswinging Yorker. Virat Kohli, who replaced Agarwal, looked in good touch hitting Malinga for two fours in one over. Kohli then departed for 12 in the fifth over trying to hit Pollard across the line but ended up top-edging it to the wicket keeper.

Dilshan who was playing an uncharacteristically slow innings then steadied the ship adding 91 runs in 12 overs with AB de Villiers. The pair built a cautious partnership but Pollard broke it in the 17th over removing de Villiers in the same fashion as Kohli but this time caught and bowled for 38 to reduce Royal Challengers to 110 for three. Malinga then returned to clean up Asad Pathan for a duck in the next over. Dilshan and Saurabh Tiwary (16* off 10 balls) then added quick-fire 28 runs from 15 deliveries to help Royal Challengers reach a respectable total of 140. In process, Dilshan brought up his half-century off 49 balls with four hits to the fence and two over it. Malinga and Pollard picked up two wickets each for the Mumbai Indians. Dilshan remained not out on 59 from 52 balls which included four hits to the fence and two over it.

In reply, Mumbai Indians got off to an aggressive start reaching 33 in just four overs. Davy Jacobs was the aggressive of the two openers hitting Zaheer Khan for a six in the first over and then milking him for two fours and a six in his next over. He made 22 from 16 balls with two hits to the fence and two over it before being cleaned up by Dirk Nannes in the fifth over.

Tendulkar and Ambati Rayudu then scored 17 runs from the eighth over bowled by Abhimanyu Mithun. Tendulkar played intelligently and kept the scoreboard ticking hitting the odd boundary at regular intervals, whereas Rayudu played aggressively bringing up his half-century from 41 deliveries, Tendulkar brought up his half-century from 42 deliveries. Both batsmen added 110 unbeaten runs for the second wicket as Tendulkar scored the winning runs hitting Asad Pathan for a boundary behind point to seal a nine wicket win with nine balls to spare.

Tendulkar remained not out on 55 from 46 deliveries with seven hits to the fence, while Rayudu remained not out on 63 from 50 deliveries with nine hits to the fence.

Tendulkar was named the man of the match for his intelligent innings of 53 and he showed great gesture bringing along Rayudu to collect the award.

Result: Mumbai Indians won by 9 wickets (with 9 balls remaining)
Scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore: 140/4
Mumbai Indians: 143/1
Man of the Match: Sachin Tendulkar
