A fiery spell of 5 for 13 from Lasith Malinga destroyed Delhi Daredevils as they were bowled out for a meagre total of 95 and then some sensible batting from Sachin Tendulkar (46*) helped Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss, chose to bat and got off to the worst possible start as they were reduced to 27 for 3 inside five overs. Virender Sehwag hit a six off Harbhajan Singh in the first over but in the very next over his opening partner David Warner was cleaned up by a trademark Malinga Yorker.
Two balls later Malinga struck again cleaning up debutant Unmukt Chand for a duck. Sehwag then hit two boundaries in two overs before he was brilliantly run out by a direct hit from Tendulkar for 19 from 16 balls. Naman Ojha then hit a four and a six off Munaf patel's over but Harbhajan Singh removed Aaron Finch in the very next over caught at deep backward square leg to reduce Delhi to 40 for 4 in seven overs.
Naman Ojha and Venugopal Rao resurrected the innings adding 42 from 7 overs for the fifth wicket but a careless shot from Ojha started the collapse as he was caught at long-off off Ali Murtaza for 29, while a Irfan Pathan was run out the very next ball by a combination of Satish and Jacobs to reduce Delhi to 82 for 6 in the 15th over. Malinga then returned to rattle the stumps of Venugopal Rao in the next over and then two balls later another toe-crusher from Malinga rattled the stumps of Morne Morkel. Harbhajan Singh then had Umesh Yadav stumped in the very next over and Malinga then wrapped up the innings on 95 by having Ashok Dinda caught at mid-off completing his five-wicket haul and finishing up with third-best figures in IPL history.
In reply, Mumbai got off to a bad start losing Davy Jacobs in just the second over as he was cleaned up by Morne Morkel. Tendulkar and Ambati Rayudu then put on crucial 30 runs before Rayudu was spectacularly run out by van der Merwe via a direct hit. Meanwhile Tendulkar was playing intelligently rotating the strike and hitting boundaries when required. He hit a brilliant inside out six over Extra cover off van der Merwe in the fifteenth over. He added 68 unbeaten runs with Rohit Sharma and finished off the match in the 17th over by hitting a superb cover drive off Pathan to seal an eight wicket victory. Tendulkar remained not out on 46 from 50 deliveries with three hits to the fence and one over it, while Rohit Sharma remained not out on 27 from 30 balls with three hits to the fence.
Lasith Malinga was named the man of the match for his exceptional bowling performance of 5 for 13 in 3.4 overs.
Result: Mumbai Indians won by 8 wickets (with 19 balls remaining)
Scores: Delhi Daredevils: 95/10
