From the iSport IPL Paddock: A swashbuckling innings of 89 from 47 balls from Chris Gayle powered Bangalore to a challenging total of 185 and then a brilliant bowling spell by Skipper Daniel Vettori (3/19) finished off Mumbai winning by 43runs and setting up a meeting With Chennai Super Kings in the final at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.

Mumbai won the toss, elected to field but their decision backfired as Gayle started off in blistering fashion hitting Abu Nechim for 27 runs off the first over of the innings. The over started off with 2 wides, a dot, edged four, four through mid-off, 5 wides, straight six, a couple of runs and boundary over mid on. Mayank Agarwal then took on Harbhajan hitting him for two boundaries in the next over, Gayle followed suit, punishing the most successful bowler of IPL, Malinga, hitting him for two boundaries in the next over. Agarwal continued his aggressive approach against Harbhajan hitting him for a six over long on and a four through point to bring up 50 for Bangalore in the fourth over. Harbhajan was unlucky two balls later when Agarwal was dropped off his bowling by Malinga at backward square leg. The pair then added 10 run off Munaf Patel's next over, but Malinga bowled a tight 6th over conceding just one run as Bangalore reached 68 for 0 and added 41 runs from next four overs as Gayle brought up his half-century off 27 deliveries.
Mumbai finally got a breakthrough in the 11th over as Agarwal's lucky innings of 41 came to an end when he was caught at long on off Pollard following a dropped catch in the same over by Rohit Sharma. Kohli and Gayle then added 16 from next two overs before Gayle again went berserk hitting Harbhajan for consecutive sixes in the 14th over taking the score to 145 for 1. Mumbai came back into the match when Munaf Patel finally got rid of Gayle in the 15th over courtesy a superb catch by Franklin at wide long on. Gayle's 89-run innings included nine hits to the fence and five over it. Kohli then chopped one onto stumps off Nechim in the next over and Malinga's screamer at short third man helped Patel get rid of Pomersbach reducing them to 157 for 4 in the 17th over. AB de Villiers and Saurabh Tiwary then added 28 runs from 22 balls helping Bangalore set a challenging target of 185.
In reply, Mumbai got off to a good start as Blizzard scored 10 runs from first over hitting two boundaries, while Tendulkar repeated the feat in the very next over. The pair added 23 runs in three overs before Blizzard was caught off Sreenath Aravind at Long on for 10. Harbhajan singh, promoted up the order then hit Mithun for a four and a six before he holed out to deep square leg off Aravind in the very next over. Meanwhile Tendulkar continued with his aggressive stroke play, hitting two boundaries in the same over and in process bringing up half-century for Mumbai. Tendulkar then smashed two more boundaries off Vettori and Syed Mohammad respectively before being stumped of the latter for 40 from 24 balls. Franklin and Rohit Sharma then added 14 runs before the latter holed out to sweeper cover off Vettori for 13. Two deliveries later Rayudu departed leg before wicket to the same bowler as Mumbai were reduced to 83 for 5 in the 11th over. Vettori then got his third wicket when he had Pollard brilliantly caught, inches off the rope by Mithun at long off. Zaheer Khan then made it game set and match cleaning up match finisher, Franklin for 16. With 83 required from 30 balls Malinga departed and Sathish and Nechim could add only 32 runs from last four overs finishing on 142, 43 runs short of the target. Bangalore will now meet Chennai Super Kings in the final at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.
