From the iSport Cricket Paddock: Aadil Mehta, a die-hard Sachin Tendulkar fan is upset and dejected. For the first time on iSport we share with you an open letter that he pens to his 'God' Sachin Tendulkar. Inviting all 'God's disciples' to read..

Dear Mr. Tendulkar,
Having worshiped you all these years and being one of your most sincere fans, something about this loss doesn't feel right!
Prior to the match, I was told by a close friend," mumbai can't win because there are bets worth 1000's of crores on them, bookies can't pay 1:3, 1:6 odds! CSK will have to win" To this my reply was " you guys are cynical a**holes! How can u doubt the god of cricket's integrity." And he said, "we'll see"
While, I appreciate your effort in trying to make a match out of this, I just cannot understand the reasons behind some of your ridiculous decisions you made today. With 30 balls to go and 60 odd to win, we see Mr. Duminy walk in. Your trump card, Mr. Pollard walks in with 18 balls to spare, 8 down.
Now, in those 30 balls, 18 were that of Ashwin and Muralidharan. We know Mr. Duminy has been the most susceptible player against spin. On the contrary, mr. Pollard has scored 97 of the last 33 balls faced by him this series. But to everyone's disbelief, the unthinkable happened. Pollard was left with an impossible task.
Would things have been different had he come in a lot earlier? We will never know!
Don't get me wrong, We can accept defeats gracefully, But with a ridiculous batting order, drop catches, many attempts to run oneself out, I don't think we ever wanted to win.
You being the best servant to indian cricket, we may give you the benefit of this doubt and move on, but something doesn't feel right!
Yours truly,
A Dejected Fan, Aadil Mehta

... Aadil, the match was not fixed. People do make mistakes and even God has. Plus as u said there were overs of the spinners still left. So, mayb the thinking was that Pollard cant play spin that well. So, they mite hav sent duminy up to counter some spin and get 15-20 in those overs or somethin like that..we wont ever know but just hav faith. |

... Aadil understand your dejection, am as dejected as you are but guess you are being too harsh to team MI. Charges levied by you are absolutely ridicuous, and i have my reasons for that 1. You have mentioned about the tactical blunders made by the man, he trying to get himself run out etc etc... but very convineantly missed out that he clearly gloved the ball to Dhoni and he did not walk off...which in circumstances what you are indicating he clearly should have 2. Why were the questions not raised when we won most of the matches in the league convineantly. with huge margins... 3. AM sure you have played cricket... if you have you wld know what pressure is all about 4. Sending Duminy was an error agreed but what if he would have scored runs and Pollard would have finished it off. would you still talk about the dropped catches and run outs saying others tried their best to loose but Duminy and Pollard were not involved so we won ?? 5. Its a game, one team has to perform bad, If raina would have been caught, people would have said that the bets turned the last minute and chennai had to loose hence played recklessly else in how many matches Hayden would score 17 runs of 31 balls. In hindsite we can look at the game the way we want to.... Non cricketing brains will talk about stuff which they are intrested in and am 120% sure you are not one of them so yes be dejected but from the cricketing view point and not other wise. Cheers!! |

... It is extremely disappointing to see how me think. My reaction is not based on how much I love Sachin Tendulkar or how much I wanted Chennai Super Kings to win the finals. Its entirely based on how such a response is elicited when Mumbai ends up on the losing side. Dont we remember how Mumbai booed its very own Sachin Tendulkar (who is now called GOD by the same people), when he was going through a rough patch? Do we remember the partisan Mumbai crowd cheering for any other team or even applaud fine efforts made by the opposition. I witnessed Yusuf Pathan's 100 off 37 balls in Brabourne and was shocked to see people, let alone enjoying his innings, were booing him for a knock which takes a lot of gut to unleash. I clearly state, the match wasnt fixed, and its only a wave of bitter feeling in Mumbai supporters of not winning the cup after clearly dominating the league table. We can come up with different thoughts for things that happen on field but at the end of the day we arent the ones making those decisions for the team. Some decisions you take are successful and some fail. |

... Jigar I agree it is waste of time ... but Aadil you still did not touch upon the Sachin walking on knicking the ball to dhoni... May be he was told to get out only in the 15th over coz if he got out early others may win the game for us Again understand your thoughts but again i would say not great allegations.... try doing thing you do the best in 5 different situations and there will be a difference in the manner you do it each time... I know it may sound as too much gyan but cant help giving one We are MI fans but we should learn to take losses in good spirits. Aditya , do not understaqnd with your thoughts on supporting the opposition team IPL is all about supporting the home team and we shall continue to do that, an odd applause here and there is fine though |
