After winning the first Test series against Bangladesh, Suraj Kori analyzes day 4 & 5 of the match. He truly believes that although we are leading in the series with 1-0, there is a lot of room for improvement!

India pulled an emphatic win! At last the Indian batsmen showed their true form and played better cricket in the second innings! Thanks to 5th consecutive century by Gautam Gambhir, this surely helped in setting the unbeatable target for Bangladesh!

The Indian batsmen came on the field with a plan in their mind. It seemed so atleast! Day Four on the Test match was played like an ODI at good run rate. The batsmen did very well to compensate for the 'not so impressive' play in the first innings. If things went the other way and surely India would have been in great trouble and would have had to struggle even for a draw! But it was just brilliant. A high target and enough time for the India bowlers to get the Bangladesh batsmen out!

The Indian bowlers also did well. They picked up wickets at quick intervals. But two bowlers who stood out were Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra! Ishant had been dropped from the team in the previous series. It was good to see that he didn’t lose hope as most of the players do and worked on his mistakes instead. The Bangladesh batsmen seemed quite hassled with his speed and bounce!

Amit Mishra was great! He proved that his captain’s decision of picking him over Pragyan Ojha was right. Leg spinners can get a genuine turn from any pitch but left arm off on the other hand sometimes cannot. I think it was this fact that favoured Mishra and got him a place on the team! The absence of Harbhajan Singh was a great opportunity for him and he made the most of it. His half century just added to his impressive performance.

Musfiqur Rahim made terrific century which lightened up the day and raised some hopes for Bangladesh. But just his century did not bring home the cup for his team. He played with great concentration and balanced temperament!

India finally won the match and is still at 1st position in Test rankings! However to win the next match and maintain their no. 1 position they definitely have to maintain this form and continue to perform a lot better than this. Good luck to India for the next match!
