In the action packed India-Sri Lanka ODI series & 2 ace players missing, iSporter Nupur Gadkari shares her thoughts on how Eden Gardens will be the deciding match for both teams to win the series!

For all cricket fans who are following the India- Sri Lanka ODI series, I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s been full of action, drama, some unexpected decisions and some unwanted ones! With India currently leading the series at 2-1, they need some real motivation to play the Kolkata ODI without their captain M S Dhoni and ace batsman Yuvraj Singh.

Currently with Dhoni serving his two-match ban ever since his slow over rate in the Nagpur ODI and Yuvi’s finger injury, the Indian’s need to ensure that for them to triumph at Eden gardens is a must! Ace bowler Sreesanth also seems to be missing in action after the flu hit him. Let’s hope that with these top notch players missing India doesn’t get the ‘hit’ in the series after performing fairly well!

Sehwag who has stepped in as Captain while Dhoni serves his ban needs to encourage players like Gambhir, Jadeja, Ojha, Raina, Tyagi so that the youngsters with their skill, spirit and right attitude bring the cup home! The assurance that the team will stand tall even with such a situation is extremely essential to build up the morale and lift spirits of not only the players but also the many spectators and fans who have pinned their hopes on this match. Today’s ODI at Eden gardens is truly crucial which either leads to victory for India if they succeed or par in the series thereby making the Delhi ODI the ‘deciding match’…truly yet another nail biting moment in this action packed series!

sangakarraReplacing Yuvi is Kohli, who has proved his worth not only by scoring a half century in the second ODI but also earned brownie points in the Champions Trophy! It is players like him who are really going to shape the team despite their key players missing! However, it doesn’t look like Sri Lanka is going to give India an easy way out of this. They are going to give them their best fight and milk this opportunity at Eden Gardens! If they succeed, we might just see Sangakkara and team walking away the trophy and might I add...one that they would then truly deserve..

So many questions.. so many aspirations.. a match full of opportunities don’t you think? With the Indian’s trying to prove themselves with ace teammates absent.. and the Lankans under Sangakkara’s Captaincy taking full advantage to spin the ball ‘just right’..

This match for both teams is a ‘Break it OR Make it’ one.. and within the next 12 hours we will all have our answers!
