With the beginning of another Cricket season in the first month of 2010, India performed fairly well in the 3rd ODI at Mirpur of the Tri-Nation series between Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India. iSporter Suraj Kori shares his views on the match with Bangladesh on it's upside as well as it's downside!

India pulled out a nerve wrecker. And the anchor for this win was none other than Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni came in to bat at a time when India was three wickets down and it honestly seemed as if India was in great trouble. Bangladesh had set a good target and with three wickets down, the chase seemed a little difficult. However, the match took a completely different turn and it was Dhoni to the rescue!

India's start was fairly dull, losing both openers in quick successions. To everyones surprise Virat Kohli came in at number three. At that point I felt that maybe a Yuvraj Singh at number three was a better bet for India given that he is a player with a lot of experience. But it was Dhoni's confidence in Kohli that encouraged him to perform and did he do a fine job or what! Off late Dhoni’s style of captaincy and leadership has a tinge of Sourav Ganguly’s tactics don't you think? Dada was one person who would recognize players who had the talent and gave them ample opportunities to prove themselves with the will of others. And in this manner I truly believe he made a very superior team that is well recognised in Cricket today. Apart from being a great captain, by following Dada's footsteps he is building a very strong team for the present as well as the future! Do you agree?

Kohli has been in and out of the team for the past two years but it is only now that Dhoni has shown confidence in him and he has been able to live up to his every expectation and performed consistently! With a century in previous series he had sealed a place in team for the next few matches but with this knock he has surely won a place for at least the next few series. He played some real good cricket with a great strike rate. I think we can safely conclude that Dhoni has got quite a talented and promising player in the middle order.

After the upside now for the down side. The bowling was under par. And I think improving the bowling skills and concentrating on the ace bowlers has been on the team's radar for quite some time now! Bangladesh as a team played an exceptional game and that has taken a lot of spectators with surprise. A target of 296 runs itself is quite a commendable effort! As they say 'actions speak louder than words', It’s high time that the selectors and Dhoni 'do' something about this slacking rather than just 'talking' about it! Our bowling against Bangladesh wasn't upto the mark and we cannot continue in this series in this form.

There is a lot of room for improvement! The Tri Nation series has a lot of exciting matches in store. Let's see who wins it and what's in store for the Indian team!
