The cricket season is done and dusted with – well atleast for the month and a half or so. Our cricketers are back home and we can all hear the advertisers scream in glee! Imagine the number of commercials that could be possibly shot over the next few weeks.
Brace yourselves to see some more of Dhoni on every third hoarding flashing his pearly whites for every sponsor of the Chennai team – his dentist is one competent man or is it photoshop? The list is impressive and very long – a cell phone giant, a cement company, an energy drink, a whitening cream for men (Captain Cool could use some himself), a watch company and an aerated drink.
While the current lot has their hands full with advertising contracts, the ex-players are busy courting controversies. A certain Mr. Kambli was caught on the wrong side of the wicket in a reality show for dishing out the 'truth' – we all know that, don’t we? Poor fellow must have had sleepless nights over this entire ordeal.
Mohammed Asif seems to have made opium use, oops – optimum use of his one year ban from the game. Reports of his marriage to TV star Veena Malik in the last week of May have been doing the rounds but the bowler wants to make the marriage public only once his career is back on track. In that case his lady love might have to spend a considerable amount of time in obscurity.

British bookies Ladbrokes were offering 100-1 for either Charlene Riva or Myla Rose to win the grasscourt title just a day after Federer's wife Mirka, 31, gave birth to the tots. What’s next? Bets on Nadal's kids beating Federer's girls? In all probability, Yes.
Sania Mirza proved yet again that diamonds are a girl's best friend. A solitaire diamond ring costing little over a million rupees completed the engagement of ace tennis star with Mohammed Shorab Mirza, son of city based businessman shattering a million hearts on the way, of course.
Moving on to some soccer news. Football's playboy Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most desired men in the world – for his skills on the field and also off it. Well, Paris Hilton was struck by this striker and how! The duo sparked romance rumors when they were spotted playing tonsil hockey at a Hollywood Hotspot. When quizzed about their rather brief encounter, Ronaldo said, “She lives thousands of miles away and is busy, and I am busy in Madrid so I am not sure if we will be able to see each other.” He added, “I am just making the most of the short summer I get.” Sounds like a pretty nice way of saying, 'Ya, we had fun, and that was that'. Ronaldo, we all know what you did this summer.
Cristiano’s ex-girlfriend, model Nereida Gallardo on the other hand sprung into confession mode when she heard about the whole affair. Not only did she call the Hilton heiress a knickerless sell-out (ouch!) but added, "Every week another girl comes along talking about him. After dumping me I don’t know how many there have been.
