Trinidad and Tobago posted just 98 on the board, but an intrepid fight from the bowlers brought them back in the game and with two runs required from the last delivery, Yuzvendra Chahal flicked the ball to mid-wicket and scampered for couple, on the second run, Ramdin received a wide throw, but missed the stumps from a close range through an under-arm throw. The batsmen completed the couple to earn a one wicket victory at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Trinidad and Tobago won the toss, elected to bat and got off to an aggressive start as openers, Simmons and Barath, scored 18 runs from the first two overs. The pair added three more runs before Malinga's slower one did the trick for Mumbai as he cleaned up Barath in the third over for 11.

Darren Bravo came in at No.3 and clobbered Chahal over long on for a huge six, he and Simmons added another 20 runs as T&T cruised to 41 for 1, but a moment of madness from Simmons paved the way for his own destruction as he got himself run out in the fifth over trying to get a double.

He did not ground his bat while completing the second run; his front foot was in the air and the back foot on the crease when the stumps were broken. Bravo greeted Harbhajan with a six over midwicket. With the score on 57 in the 7th over, Franklin removed Darren Ganga, caught by Sathish at long-off.

Harbhajan had Ramdin caught and bowled for a duck off the first ball of the eighth over; he then cleaned up Bravo in his next over to reduce T&T to 64 for 5.  Harbhajan was on a roll by now as he trapped Sherwin Ganga leg before wicket in his next over to make it 78/6 in the 12th over.

Malinga added to T&T's batting woes in his comeback spell as he trapped Cooper leg before wicket with a full toss, which the batsman totally misjudged. The very next ball, Rampaul was run out when he was stranded midway down the track, after hitting one to midwicket.

Jason Mohammed was the only one who put up a brave fight but he too departed in the 16th over, caught behind off Pollard for 23. Ahmed wrapped up the innings on 98 in the 17th over by having Sunil Narine caught at third man for 11.

In reply, Mumbai got off to a disastrous start as they lost five wickets for 33 runs in eight overs. Blizzard was the first one to depart in the third over, caught at short third man off Badree. Suman departed in the next over caught at mid on, getting a leading edge trying to clear mid on, Franklin departed in the same over, caught at first slip for duck. An over later, Rampaul cleaned up Symonds to make it 16 for 4.

Mumbai were in dire straits when Pollard under edged one onto his stumps off Narine in the ninth over with the score on 33. Rayudu and Sathish played cautiously to add 32 runs from next seven overs before Sathish hit one straight to midwicket in the 16th over off Narine. Harbhajan Singh smacked Sherwin Ganga for six over midwicket before being run out at the bowler's end, trying to return for a second.

With 23 runs required from 15 deliveries, Malinga got a boundary off a misfield at long off. With 15 required from 12 balls, the next over yielded just four runs. The first ball of the last over yielded a single from Rayudu, Malinga clobbered Sherwin Ganga for a six over long off to bring down the equation to 6 from 4.

Malinga then scored a single off the next ball before being run out, backing up too far after Rayudu hit one straight to the bowler. Rayudu was run out off the next ball trying to complete an impossible second run.

With two required off the last delivery, Darren Ganga puzzled everyone with his tactics, deciding to save the two instead of single.

Sherwin Ganga bowled a full toss on leg stump and Yuzvendra Chahal flicked the ball to mid-wicket and scampered for couple, on the second run, keeper Ramdin received a wide throw, but missed the stumps from a close range through an under-arm throw. The batsmen completed the couple to earn a one wicket victory.

Ravi Rampaul was named the man of the match for his brilliant bowling performance of 3 for 17.
