iSporter Chirag Mansukhani is hooked onto the Australian Open. He enjoyed the valiant battle between Svetlana Kuznetsova and Kerber and shares his view of the match on iSport.

In a match that lasted approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova survived a well contested battle against Germany’s Kerber. Kuznetsova was slow out of the blocks and her German counterpart took advantage of Kuznetsova’s lackluster approach to the start of the match taking the first set 6-3.
While one can only wonder for Kuznetsova’s slow start, it could have been the fact that the match started at half past eleven in the night or worse was due to the fact that it was only a qualifier. Reasons aside, the Russian was as good as a member of the audience in the first set.
However, like all great players Kuznetsova showed her grit when she dug deep and clawed her way back into the match by taking the second set 7-5. Comebacks are the mark of champions and Kuznetsova showed every bit of her class as she not only took the second set but managed to get in front with a break of serve early in the third set.
The lead though was short lived, as Kerba showed a lot of courage and determination to level the third set at four games a piece. This was after she made two successful challenges and then won a break point off the Kuznetsova serve.
In another twist though, Kuznetsova broke back to serve for the match. She then saved break points before holding on to her serve to clinch the match. Kuznetsova earned herself a place in the round of 16 where she next faces her compatriot Nadia Petrova who quite literally wiped the floor with 2009 U.S. Open Champion Kim Clijsters winning the match rather emphatically 6-0,6-1.
The winner of the round of sixteen match between Petrova and Kuznetsova will play either Wickmayer or former 2004 Australian Open champion Justin Henin who came through a tough three set match earlier in the day against Alisa Kleybanova.
It is a tough section of the draw and the person emerging from this section would definitely be considered as one of the favourites for the title, although the Williams' sisters would definitely have a lot to say about that.
