Roger Federer took a step closer to possibly his first masters title of the season with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Andy Roddick in the quarter finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. It turned out to be a sweet revenge for the Swiss as the American had defeated him at the same stage of the tournament last year. With this victory the former World No. 1 improved his career record against Roddick to 17-2.
Federer’s opponent in the semi-final will be third seed Novak Djokovic. The Serbian overcame 10th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsongo 6-3, 6-4.
