saniaiSporter Chirag Mansukhani is glad that India's best hope in women's tennis, Sania Mirza, is back in action. He writes on her progress in the on going Fed Cup.
Sania Mirza led India into Group I of the Fed Cup Asia Oceania Zone. Sania, India’s No. 1 and ranked 59 in the world made light work of Kyrgyzstan’s No. 1 disposing of Ksenia Palkina 6-0 6-2 sealing the tie for the Indians.

In the first rubber Rushmi Chakravarthy struggled past Duvanaeva 6-4 1-6 6-3 to give India the upper hand in the tie. Sania then obliged with a convincing victory which was followed by another victory in the third dead rubber 6-0 1-0 by Rushmi Chakravarthy and Sanaa Bhambri when Bermet and Buyuklianova conceded.

Sania was satisfied after the result and she said she was happy that she could put things right this time round as she lead India back where they belong into Group I. Last year India were eliminated to Group II as Sania missed the Fed Cup tie due to injury.

Sania was glad she set the record straight and was excited about the fact that India now had a chance to make it into the World Group next year.

Sania looks all set for the year ahead as she now will play a series of tournaments starting with the Pattaya Open where she came Runner- Up last time round. After the much publicized break-up of her engagement to Hyderbadi Businessman Mohd. Sohrab Mirza earlier this year it is important for Sania to find her rhythm on the tennis court this year and concentrate on doing what she does best. Here’s wishing Sania the best of luck for the year 2010. Go Sania!!!
