After celebrating her success in the Doubles event, iSporter Chirag Mansukhani is celebrating Serena William's victory in the Singles event at the 2010 Australian Open.

Serena Williams won the Australian Open Women’s Singles title for a fifth time with a win over Justine Henin in the championship match 6-4 3-6 6-2. It was a hard fought match and both the women brought out the best in each other leaving ahead the prospect of an exciting season of Women’s tennis.
Serena drew first blood in her title defence as she broke the Henin serve in the fourth game of the first set. Henin however, fought back making it 4-4 before Serena claimed the first set 6-4.
In the second set it was the Belgian tennis queen who came out all guns blazing and it seemed that she couldn’t put a foot wrong as she completely dominated Williams’ move taking the set 6-3.
However, in the third set Henin failed to convert her chances leaving her to rue the missed opportunities as Serena valiantly fought back to take the set and the championship 6-2. The Serena serve came through on many an occasion, bailing out the defending champion when she required it the most. Serena served 12 aces in all and her power, grit and sheer determination proved to be the deciding factor in this match.
I take nothing away from Henin. It has truly been an amazing coming back for the Belgian. A pity she couldn’t go that one step further and clinch the title, but one has to remember that it was only her 11th match since coming back to the sport.
As for Serena, I’m short of words to describe her accomplishments. Yet another Australian Open title, yet another Slam and still no sign of stopping her. A double whammy at this year’s Australian Open winning both the Singles ands the Doubles titles makes her Queen Bee. All hail Serene Serena!
