A run down of Day 4 of the second Test match between India and Australia.

Who says that the test cricket is on the verge of decline? No matter how many T20’s you play, how many ODIs you play, when it comes to the pure entertainment, there is nothing better than the most traditional form of the game, test match Cricket. India and Australia, when they play each other, it brings out the best out of each team and with the kind of test match we had in Mohali, fans and spectators could not have asked for anything more.
The fourth day of the 2nd test started off with a wide delivery bowled by Mitchell Johnson to the Master, who was 9 runs short of yet another double hundred, clearly showing the nervousness of the bowler. Sachin did not take much time and completed his 6th double hundred by tapping the ball to cover point and taking a quick single off Hilfenhaus. Soon after the arms went up and the master created history hitting his 3rd double hundred of the year, two in tests and one in ODI’s. He has now matched V Sehwag with most number of double hundreds by an Indian batsman.
However his marathon knock of 214 runs in 336 balls came to an end when he played on a delivery by Peter George, giving the debutante his first Test wicket. By this time he had already put 75 runs with MS Dhoni for the sixth wicket. Tendulkar’s wicket opened the doors for Aussie bowlers to get into the skin of the Indian tail and India lost last 5 wickets for only 9 runs and was bowled out for 495 runs.
The Australian openers started their innings positively and Shane Watson got a good start again. Watson and Katich put 58 runs for the first wicket before Ojha trapped Watson in front and on the same score Harbhajan got Katich. The next batsman Ricky Ponting, started positively, stroking the ball well. However there was not enough support for him since wickets kept falling at the other end. Michael Clarke’s bad form continued when he was stumped cleverly by Dhoni. Hussey joined Ponting and added 61 vital runs but Ojha struck again and caught him leg before and soon after Harbhajan clean-bowled the first innings centurion Marcus North.
Ricky Ponting was losing out on partners as Tim Paine joined him at the crease and both the batsmen looked to stabilize the innings; however Zaheer Khan had other ideas when he trapped Ponting leg before. Just before the stumps, the Aussies also lost Tim Paine off the bowling of Sreesanth giving him the lone wicket of the match. Australia finished the day on 202/7.
It is going to be a cracker of the day tomorrow with both teams pressing for a win.
