From the iSport Cricket Pavilion: Opener Tim McIntosh struck a superb 102 to help New Zealand to 258-4 on the day one of the second Test against India at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, hosting its first Test.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first but in only the fourth over of the innings lost opener Brendon McCullum caught behind off Sreesanth with the total on four.
McIntosh then added 147 runs with Martin Guptill (85) for the second wicket before the latter fell leg before wicket to Pragyan Ojha. Guptill played some aggressive cricket hitting nine fours and a six and was earlier given out by on-field Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena after he was caught behind in Sreesanth's fourth over, but luckily for him Dharmasena consulted with third umpire Amiesh Saheba, who ruled the delivery to be a no-ball and Guptill was told to come back.
McIntosh then added 55 runs for the 3rd wicket with Ross Taylor(24) before the latter was caught behind off Zaheer Khan early in the final session and then he added 47 for the 4th wicket with the first Test hero Jesse Ryder before being clean-bowled by Zaheer Khan in the penultimate over of the day.
Tim McIntosh became only the 11th batsman to score a century after a getting a pair and the first Kiwi opener to score a century outside New Zealand in six years after Stephen Fleming's ton against England in 2004.
The left-hander made 102 off 254 balls hitting 10 fours and a six and was involved in three crucial partnerships.
Jesse Ryder (22*) and Gareth Hopkins (0*) made sure that there were no more slip-ups as New Zealand ended the day on 258-4 .
