Cricket Update: India's top order displayed sheer brilliance as they piled on a lead of 99 runs over New Zealand to finish at 292 for 2 on day two of the third test at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur.

Resuming on 148 for 7, the Kiwis were all out for 193 as paceman Ishant Sharma (4-43) picked up Brendon McCullum caught behind for 40 and debutant Andy McKay clean-bowled for five before left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha (3-57) removed last-man Southee, who played a important 38-run knock which included two fours and three sixes.
In reply, Indians started brightly as Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir added 113 runs for the first wicket before the former was caught and bowled by Daniel Vettori for 74.
Sehwag hit 12 fours and a six during his 73 ball knock. Gambhir then added 79 runs for the second wicket with Rahul Dravid before he was caught in slips by Ross Taylor off Tim Southee for 78.
Gambhir hit 12 fours during his 127-ball innings.
Dravid played in typically cool fashion, making 69, which included eight hits to the boundary and added 100 runs for the third wicket with Sachin Tendulkar, who brought up his first half-century of the series and 59th of his career to delight the home crowd.
Tendulkar was attacked with some short-pitch bowling by the New Zealand fast bowlers but to no avail as he played some scintillating strokes on either side of the wicket. His 57-run knock off 126 balls included seven hits to the fence.
Tendulkar along with Dravid 100 runs for the third wicket to take India to 292 for 2, 99 runs ahead of the Kiwis at stumps on day two of the third test.
