From the iSport Cricket Paddock: The legendary Lankan spin wizard Murli and Indian ace batsman Tendulkar have gotten our iSporter poet Jigar Mehta to pen yet another innovative piece. Read his tribute poem to the two heroes!
The tour to the little island was a litmus test,
A series to remember as the last series of the very best,
The retirement news came and the world was in a shock for a while,
The longest form of the game will miss a wizard with bulging eyes and a special smile....
The wicket was flat but on any wicket he can spin,
Doosra is his speciality he is our own ''Smiling Assassin'',
A tough task in prospect with 8 wickets to get,
Watching him all these years on him we can always bet!
For him the conditions at Galle were perfectly set,
He started taking wickets at a speed of a private jet!
Reaching 799 and 1 wicket to go,
The whole world was anxiously waiting for the perfect last blow..
The ball left the hands with Seam motions super slow,
Off went the 10th and the spectators took a bow..
We thank you ''Murali'' for these years of superb show!
Now we were 1-0 down and there was a big chaos in the town,
Bringing the team down to the ground making them look like a clown,
A tough time for the team with their morale totally down,
They were in danger of losing their No.1 crown!
The whole team was out of sorts and was very quiet..
That is when came the importance of experience in ‘light’..
2 hours of a motivational speech to the team set the tone right,
With golden words of ''Until the end we will fight''...
Much to the delight He was none other than our own master and Mr. Polite...
The day arrived and on the 1st day a good start was a must,
The bowlers had a bad day; were made to bite the dust,
600 hundred odd runs and the thought of saving the ‘follow on’ came to mind first
With world class batting line up we had all the trust
But the heart was only with one name and it was ''Sachin'' just!

With a very good start Veeru gained the pace,
That set the tone for a humongous chase..Just when it seemed we were in the race,
Randiv shook the batting order on his debut with a brace!
No worries sang the fans as out came India's very own ''ACE''
He knew his wicket would be planned out in many ways,
But the worries die when u see the confidence on his very cute face!
Unexpectedly the wall did crumble,
But after all there is always ''God'' who is always ready to rumble..
The conditions were super hot and it was a very tough day,
A hugely determined Tendulkar knew that on the wicket he had to stay..
For a super debutant a huge platform he did lay..
It was Raina's fifty and Sachin's century which had the very last say!
Batting throughout the day this 37 year body was still strong,
The Lankan keeper must be cursing himself for the only thing he did wrong..
We all started praying may the innings become more long....
Here came the day where he put the bowlers in super trouble..
He brought up his 5th and debutant Randiv's first double (222 in 73 overs)!
The other debutant at the opposite end was also having fun..
The 2 carried the innings and things were almost done……….
Joining the master he made his dream debut ton!
''He doesn’t have leadership qualities'' critics who say this; a Psychiatrist they should confront..
Dare to say that again and you will find your ‘’Effigies burnt’’!!
Because in these innings there are innumerable things to be learnt
