Resuming the day on 131 for 3, needing 195 runs to win with seven wickets in hand, West Indies got off to a bad start Losing Darren Bravo in the sixth over of the day with just 17 runs added to the total. Bravo moved too far across, exposing his leg stump and Praveen Kumar delivered an inswinging delivery which missed the fine deflection and hit the leg stump. Bravo made 41 runs from 89 deliveries with seven hits to the fence, adding 68 runs for the fourth wicket with Chanderpaul. Kumar then struck a very important blow in his next over removing a well settled Chanderpaul caught at cover. Chanderpaul Drove away from his body and was early into the shot, hitting it straight down Raina's lap at cover.

Chanderpaul made 30 with four hits to the fence. Two overs later Harbhajan Singh struck removing Carlton Baugh, caught at leg slip for a duck. Sammy then went berserk hitting Harbhajan for three towering back-to-back sixes over mid wicket taking the total to 168 for 6. He then hit Praveen Kumar for a boundary through mid wicket before hitting one straight down Extra cover's throat off Mishra. Sammy's 11-ball cameo of 25 included one hit to the fence and three over it. An over later Mishra trapped Brendan Nash plumb in front to reduce the home side to 188 for 8. With 138 runs required to win Rampaul put the bowlers to sword, hitting Ishant Sharma for two boundaries in an over and then sweeping Mishra for a boundary through fine leg.

Harbhajan Singh wasn't spared too as he was clobbered over extra cover for a maximum. Rampaul and Edwards added 35 for the ninth wicket before Ishant Sharma finally removed Rampaul in the 56th over, caught behind off a short delivery. Rampaul made 34 from 32 deliveries with six hits to the fence and one over it. West Indies went into lunch at 226 for 9 needing 100 more runs for victory.

After lunch, Bishoo and Edwards added another 36 runs taking the score to 262 before Raina wrapped up the innings and the match, cleaning up Bishoo via a perfect off-spinner, winning the match by 63 runs and taking 1-0 lead in the three match series.
