Barcelona gave an exhilarating display at the Nou Camp to win their second La Liga Title in as many years, iSporter Suraj Kori reports.
Just as EPL, the race for the La Liga championship title too went down to the wire. Barcelona had a 1 point lead over Real Madrid! A defeat in the final match would have eased Real Madrid's way to the championship.
But the Barca players held their nerves and emerged as champions on the final day with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Real Valladolid. Madrid though gave a tough fight to Barca but drew its final match handing over the trophy to Barca and ending the season on a low.
Barcelona defeated Madrid both at Home (1-0) and Away (0-2) in the season stating that they deserved to win the title. The fact that Barca won 12 of its last 13 games itself proves how desperate they were for the title. Barca scored an astonishing 83 goals in its winning campaign destroying its opponents!
Barcelona won its last 5 games to ensure that it does not slip from its position at the top of the table! Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the replacement for Samuel Eto'o showed some great character proving Pep Guardiola's decision right.
Ibrahimovic finished with 16 goals with only Messi ahead of him who scored 34! Messi played a key role in Barca's La Liga campaign. He has proved time and again that he is the best footballer of this period! He has been scoring goals for Braca whenever needed...
Everything went right for Barca this season with only Champions League being a black spot in its winning campaign. Barcelona successfully defended its title this season and would be hoping to do it next season too... Well, with players like Messi, Ibrahimovic and Pedro in your team this doesn't seem a tough task for the Catalan Giants!
