Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid came from behind to win 3-1 at Hercules. The brace took his tally to 12 goals from just 9 games.

Barcelona thrashed 10-man Sevilla 5-0 as Lionel Messi and David Villa scored a brace each. It took the Argentinean's tally to 7 goals from as many games, as Barcelona kept up the pressure on leaders Madrid.

Valencia, who had surprisingly set the pace early in the season, found themselves on fourth spot after a 1-1 draw against Real Zaragoza.
