Madrid travel to Racing tonight as they look to enter El Clasico next weekend with a win and as League Leaders while Barcelona host Athletic Bilbao at the Nou Camp. Eight games are left in the League with 24 points to play for and it seems the competition between the Spanish Giants is going to intensify. iSporter Karan Shah previews the match for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid

This weekend is dubbed as the ‘prelude’ to the big match and both teams would be looking for a win to get bragging rights. Madrid travel to Santander with a lot of their first team players out due to injury as Kaka, Drenthe and Pepe are all unavailable for this match. Santander have hit a low recently and their defence has been leaking a lot of goals. Miguel angel Portugal would be worrisome considering his team is against well, arguably, the best attack force in Europe.

Sergio Canales

Canales would also want to put on an impressive show against his future employers and the Bernabeu bosses, as Kaka would certainly know, do not get impressed that easily. Gonzalo HIguain and Ronaldo have set up camp in the oppositions half and both together have been indispensible in attack. Xabi and Ramos took yellow cards in the last match rather deliberately after taking cue from Daniel Alves as all three look to serve their suspension this weekend to return for the clasico. Guti and Gago join the team after recovering from their minor injuries.

Manuel Pellegrini might start with the following formation :

Nothing but a win would suffice Manuel Pellegrini going into the match that might define his role in the future. And as a Real Madrid fan puts it “We're the stuff champions are made of. We're not the General's army, we are an army of Generals. We are Real Madrid!” Now, more than ever, is the time to prove it!
