The fifth El Clasico of the year with two more still suppose to come by end of this year and this was also the curtain raiser for the upcoming Liga BBVA season. So the stage was set with Santiago Bernabeu being the venue, new faces in both the sides and whats more than all of this it’s the match which is mother of all rivalries. And here is what I saw:

1. Return Of The Beautiful Game:

The first leg of the UEFA Champions League last season between these two European giants was everything but football. Players flying around as if they had just had Gummi Bear Juice, players considering themselves to be better of a referee than a player and post match press conference were the new battle ground. But today’s match was what I call an El Clasico, it had goals, tricks, passes and more importantly no diving no conspiracies no play-acting no begging for cards. For me today’s game was exciting, competitive and plain & simple beautiful football.

2. Half Time Official News:

Cesc FabregasWho the hell is going to wait for the match to end these must be the thought in the head of the Barcelona and Arsenal officials at half time when they sent out a NOT SO BREAKING NEWS to the football fraternity.

As soon as the half time whistle blew no one was talking about how the first half went, why because of the official statement released by both the Catalan and North Londonclubs with regards to Fabregas transfer to mark the end of the LOVE AFFAIR between both the clubs. Just a question was the timing of the news decided by Barcelonaas they didn’t want to wait because they were worried may be Mr. Wenger could have had change of mind?

3. You Are Not A Psychopath:

Puyol and PepeIt was sad to see the way Pepe was playing today lunging unnecessarily, making unwanted passes and getting into the tussle & by dong so leaving his position empty in defense. We as a Madridista believe in you as an integral part of the team but for god sake you are at Santiago Bernabeu not a WWE Arena.

I really believe the kind of energy and strength Pepe has most of the players in the world would die to have it in them so Mr. Pepe make the best use of it for all of us Madridista out here. FYI Mr. Alves that’s how a Pepe tackle feels.

4. Referee Is The God On That Green Turf:

You might get slaughtered on the field but if the whistle doesn’t blow no one is going to care. Not one not two but three clear cut penalties disappeared into the thin air, first being Abidal trying a trick that who cares if you can’t control the ball with the two feet you always have the hands to assist you location being inside the penalty box.

Second being the cheeky street smart move by Valdes to raise his arm to trip Ronaldo when he was going for the ball while he himself was floored in the box and thirdly I know many wouldn’t agree but for me it was a penalty when Marcelo went for a slide to bring down Pedro in the box. Imagine the excitement if all penalties would have been given and also converted the score line would have been 4-3 to Madrid, yeah all you Catalan fans be happy with 3 away goals but a fair game is a fair game.

5. Suffocation Tactics:

I am happy that the Blancos are not Tiki-taka architects because we are the suffocation experts, how the hell are you going to imply your pass and move tactics if we don’t give you any space. Today from the startMadridwere aggressive full of energy and putting immense pressure onBarcelonanot only the players but also the white shirt bald Legend with the black tie Mr. Pep. I loved each and every moment of the first half when we suffocatedBarcelonafor even an itsy bitsy amount of space, I know we trailed them 1-2 at HT but I saw whats about to come in the upcoming season.

6. Hate The Commentators:

This one is on a personal note: I knew I can never be a commentator why because if there is a match which involves Real Madrid and I am involved in it the only words I would be speaking is screw the opposition team but what I realised today is all this doesn’t matter you just need to speak even if you are partially blind.

The Ten Action commentator through out the match was going all gaga about Barcelona Barcelona Barcelona, I can tell you one thing even if Messi just by chance was able to punch Pepe’s face the commentator would have said ‘I am not too sure if there was a contact or not’. And why I pointed towards his eye sight issue was because all through out the match he called Benzema Pepe and Alves Keita thought out the match. Really I feel there is a need for neutral commentators.

And also the friendship between Mourinho and Guardiola keeps growing:

Now lets check out some of the tweets:

This one is for post Cesc signing:

Still an IF in Fabregas signing:

Meaning of El Clasico:

From a true Madridista:

I am a Real Madrid to the core but I’m also someone who tells it like he sees them, madrid and barcelona great talented. Peace

I would like to end by wishing all my fellow Indian a very HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.

P.S: The match ended 2-2
