Arsene Wenger sure does not like Barcelona. The French Mastermind is in a similar position to Sir Alex last year during the Ronaldo saga. The player in question this time is Cesc Fabregas, currently the heart and soul of the Gunners. iSporter Pulasta Dhar presents an elaboration…

When Cesc Fabregas came off the bench half fit and with his team being beaten against Villa, it was a move pretty much predictable. What was not predictable was the way it would affect the game. One killer pass, one goal and a fabulous freekick took it to my ‘Fab moments of the season’ list.
It was a pivotal point in the career of the Spaniard who with that performance put Arsenal back in the hunt for glory. But as usual, they ran off gas in the end and fizzled out in the most important part of the season….the run-in.
Half a decade of barren seasons has made the youngster think about his future. And these thoughts enhanced when he saw that the team he grew up with had turned into the most fearsome in Europe.
Which midfielder would not want to play behind the likes of Messi, Ibrahimovic and the newly recruited David Villa. What you are guaranteed in the La Liga if you’re at Barca or Madrid is a 1st of 2nd position because however much you may argue about all the technique and beauty of Spanish football, it’s a two-horse race.
For Arsene and his team, which co-incidentally sound so much as its manager’s last name (football can be crazy) that it made me think Arsenal was christened after him (when I was 10 yrs old), it will be a big blow. Their most potent weapon is about to be bought off by an incredibly attractive team.
The best way to approach this would be a player exchange. Arsenal know Barca want Cesc bad…and if they can play shrewd, they might get themselves a good deal. If I would be Arsene, I would go for 40 Mill + Bojan. It might seem weird, but Bojan fits Wenger’s likeness….quick, short, agile, good on the ball and hey hey…young!!
People are talking about Yaya Toure, but he’s too old already. A 28 yr old for a young stallion like Cesc….a big no! More feasible would be Sergio Busquets or Pedro. Pedro would be a classic addition. I would think Arsenal should give an ultimatum….40 mill+Bojan/Pedro/Busquets and you can take the deal or leave it. This will really test their resolve.
I personally feel Samir Nasri can well fit into the role of Fabregas. He likes playing there and lets not forget Jack Wilshere who had a splendid season at Bolton. Some of his balls ran through the defense like a hot knife through butter (its my favourite phrase).
For Barca, it would be a massive relief of pressure from the shoulders of the ever-fit Xavi and the usually-fit Iniesta. It would also pave the way for Keita to go find a new club. Also, Henry at New York? Would be great but I’d rather prefer a move back to Arsenal for him ala Sol Campbell style….this might just be a little bit off fantasy football.
As they usually say, ‘Arsene knows’, this is the time it will really be put to test….

... I am having my doubts on the Arsene knows best philosophy, he should create a team where winners want to stay rather then leave! Arsenal won't become hopeless just because Cesc leaves but it doesn't reflect too well on the club if it's top player from every season leaves! |

... Naah I don't agree, even if Cesc leaves Arsenal will not just crash. I am sure Wenger will spend the money and get a replacement. Getting someone of Cesc's caliber won't easy but he can beef up the squad well with 40 odd million that he should generate from the sale. |
