These are the guys who were at one time best in the business but wrong moves, injuries, lack of first team opportunity took them off the path of glory. So here they are may be making their last transfers of their career to see a clear blue sky in the future.
Owen Hargreaves does a Manchester hop:
The highly talented 30-years-old English midfielder has finally ended his 4 injury prone season at Old Trafford where he also won the Champions League in 2008. He is at City where he has to get over his nightmare days of injury to fight for his place in an already populated roster. Hargreaves would surely provide the right experience to the tough road ahead for the Mancini side.
Bell Again Rings At Anfield:
The pacy Welshmen Craig Bellamy after being sick and tired of being a surplus asset for Manchester City and being loaned out from one club to another has returned to his former club Liverpool after four long years. Liverpool must be happy to have him on a free transfer he would surely increase the depth of King Kenny’s squad.
Joe off to a mission:
This was like a shock for me as I thought finally Joe was becoming a part of Liverpool’s plan after going through a dull phase of his career. But happy for one of the charismatic player EPL would ever see as he moves to the French champion Lille, it would be interesting to see him take Gervinho’s position.
Surprise Surprise Transfers
These are transfers which happened on the deadline day when no one had any idea about it being possible, so I can easily say these are out of no where transfers.
Old School Style Of Transfer:
With 30 min for the window to close, Meireles writes a letter to his boss to let him go and 5 min later he joins Chelsea I say this was the most dramatic transfer of the summer. Raul one of the only stars the Liverpool side had last season it’s a shocker that Dalglish allowed the Portuguese to leave.
Crouchy Tower Now Stands At Stoke
Peter Crouch after having a pretty successful Champions league stint with Spurs last season was seen chilling out at Stoke City training ground with no tension regarding his future. And as the window closed Crouch was a Stoke City player with his fellow team-mate Palacio and Jerome from Bermingham joining him at Stoke I say good work done by Stoke City.
Transfers After The Gr-8-est Defeat
These are the transfers that happened after United defeated Wenger’s Arsenal 8-2, you can easily realize what an eye opener it was for Wenger as he signed 5 players within the span of 48 hours.
Arteta Attacking-midfielder At Arsenal
This one was another of a shocker for me as I had no clue this would happen specially after Wenger’s post debacle conference. The transfer of Arteta happened in the last-minute of the transfer window, if Mikel is able to keep himself fit Gunners have made one of the best signings. Arteta is good on the ball, good at distribution and is good at set-pieces which Arsenal needed big time. FYI he is also a La Masia product, remember a player named CESC.
I Am The New CB As Per Mertesacker
For me this is a bigger signing than all the other signings that Arsenal has done, with the kind of defensive performances Gunners have displayed in past 3 weeks you need a guy of Per Mertesacker’s stature. Per is one of the most cautious defenders in the world but don’t take me wrong that he is not aggressive all I want to say is he learns from his experience and hence knows when to tackle and when to slide.
Tinge Of Brazilian Magic Is Always Welcomed
First of all clearly he is a much better Left-back as compared to Clichy, why because firstly he is a Brazilian, secondly he has great attacking instincts and thirdly cause he is pretty good from dead ball situations. Playing in Turkish league Andre Santos is one of the toughest Left Back in the midfield and is equally good in the final 3rd as he is at the back.
Another International Captain Joins Emirates
When you are a Captain of a South Korean side and you are good at scoring good number of goals and you are a striker, I say Arsenal hit a jackpot when they signed Park Chu-Young for 3million pounds from Monaco. Chu ran away from his medical at Lille after the intervention of Wenger assured the Korean it was better to move to London. I swear all they players are all becoming too movie like.
Now Wenger Also Has A Trump Player
Yossi Benayoun after being linked to almost all the club in EPL finally penned the contract to keep him on loan at Emirates for full season. Yossi is a very versatile midfielder able to operate from any part of the field and above all that he is one the most skilful player in English Premier League today. And just like that Arsenal side looks more balanced & more experienced and now is the time for Wenger to weave his magic.
Young Guns Transfer
The following section tells about the deadline transfers of youngsters and induction of young blood into EPL.
Liverpool Get A Coates To Wear
Sebastian Coates was awarded the best young player of just concluded Copa America which Uruguay won after defeating Paraguay. He is tall well-built and has great sense of positioning, I wonder is he the replacement for Anfield Legend Carragher?
David Ngog Joins Bolton
He joined Liverpool from PSG but then there was Torres to compete with then came his dream day when Torres left for Chelsea. Then came a nightmare bigger than a dream when LFC signed Carroll and Suarez so finally he leaves for Coyle’s Bolton.
Hope He Gets Out Of The Shadow Of Maldini
When he was 17 and he was at one of the biggest club in Italy that being Inter Milan everyone said he was the new Maldini why because he was good, he was an Italian and he was a Left-back. And this pressure and injury took a toll on Davide Santon he is still one of my favourites and hope he gets what he deserves as a Toon. With him, the two Taylors and captain Coloccini the Newcastle defense looks nice.
Good Riddance Transfers
These are the transfers which would make the sending club happy not too sure about the receiving clubs.
Goodbye Arsenal Hello Sunderland
After signing 8-9 players during the window Steve Bruce has added Bendtner to his squad for a yearlong loan. And with that Gooners have signed a contract to support Sunderland in their matches as a token of appreciation to take Bendtner away and give out lessons to the Black Cats fans on how to control the temper when they see the Danish player playing ego-ego in place of football.
Goodbye Madrid Hello Everton
Drenthe has flair and skills which made him the player pf the U-21 European Cup tournament and so Madrid spent 14 million to sign him from Feyenoord to sign the youngster. But forgot to do the background check as he was more interested to be a rapper and could never be a Madridista. Thanks to Everton he shall now play in England for next one season hope he learns some class there.
Small Clubs Big Dream Transfers
These transfers put a stamp on the strong intent shown by the small clubs to be a big club one day.
QPR Gets It Wright
Shawn Wright-Phillips seals his move to newly promoted QPR and ends his days of uncertainty as a Citizen. Wright-Phillips is a great signing towards the motive to prove their existence in EPL.
It’s a Dann Deal
Birmingham’s Scott Dann was a transfer target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Bolton but finally he joins Rovers. It would be a great partnership seeing Dann and Samba play together.
Costa Rican at Fulham
Bryan Ruiz first identified as a target by Redknapp’s Spurs who was there to see Twente’s Europa League qualifiers also
but as it normally happens for Spurs they do every research and some one else signs their target. Nothing changes this time as well as Ruiz signs for Fulham.
Special Transfer
The Name is Parker, Scott Parker
For me this is one of the best signings of the window, Parker is a good offensive & defensive player and he is a work horse and was awarded FWA Player of the season last year, after knowing all this all Spurs had to pay for him was 5 million pounds. FYI FWA Player of the season shall play with PFA Player’s Player of the Season.
Unmoved
Carlos Tevez
After all the rumours of him being home sick and joining Real Madrid, inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Boca Juniors and all other clubs he was linked to. At the end of the transfer window Tevez is still a Citizen.
Luka Modric
Chelsea made an initial bid of 20 million then 25 million for the Croatian play maker then everything cooled down as Daniel Levy made it clear Modric shall not leave. But remembering Berbatov’s move to Old Trafford there was still chance for Modric to move to Stamford Bridge. At the end of transfer window Redknapp made it open Spurs had to reject a 40 million deal from Chelsea to keep Modric at White Hart Lane.

... U missed out Gary Cahill, Neymar, Hazard (unmoved players)...... Also the biggest surprise this season is Man City selling their stars to big clubs within the BPL (Adebayor, Bellamy)..... probably an indication that Liverpool, Tottenham are no longer considered threats |
