Football Transfer Analysis: Cut Price Transfers Come January

Daniele De Rossi

Although the current transfer window has shut, it has set up an interesting scenario for the next one. If the current situation stays as it is till the end of the 2011-12 season, we will see over 460 players without contracts. That is only the figure in the Big 4 Leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Seria A & Bundesliga).

What this means is that when the January transfer window opens there will be a mad scramble for a few of these players. Selling clubs would rather their players leave for a small amount in January than leave for free at the end of the season. Here are my top 10 players who could be available at a cut price in January.

The focus may be on the above mentioned players but there are also some others who could turn out to be bargain buys.

For those clubs looking out for experienced players who can mentor the younger players at the club here are some quality choices whose monthly salaries will probably cost more than their transfer fee in January.

I hope that Arsenal get their hands on a couple of players mentioned in these lists. Someone like Hugo Rodallega would fit into the system perfectly & would be a better option than Chamakh. Likewise it would be nice to see Van Bommel mentoring youngsters like Song, Frimpong & Coquelin. Maybe even Diaby could pick up a thing or two. Which of these players would you like to see in your club next year? It could even be someone who isn't mentioned on the list but has a year left on his contract like a Darren Gibson (Manchester United).
